Apartment Review for Woods Of Walnut Creek - Kansas City, MO

First of all, I'm a medical student and this complex used to be recommended by my school. I loved the grounds and the apartment and you used to get a lot for your money under the previous management. However, after I moved in the leasing agent left and new staff was brought in. This would happen several times, I have been here 2 years and am leaving at the end of my lease. In October of last year several of my fellow students and I were robbed while we were at school. It was never on the same day, and the place was never disturbed because it was the maintenance guy! I came home and my apt was still locked. It took me 2 hours to realize I'd been robbed! Management refused to admit it was him, despite the police telling us it was. Eventually he was fired for "other reasons" and the break ins magically stopped. Since that incident, all of us that attend my school spoke with our administration and had Walnut Creek removed from the list of recommended places to live. Further most (there were 25 people from my class living here last year and now only about 7) moved out at the end of their lease. I stayed for convenience. In addition, management has been completely sacked and changed no less than 2 additional times. The current management is rude, particularly Alisha, who is apparently in charge as well as some woman named Sara. They are disorganized as well. Their "log book" for carport spaces was misplaced several times this year, making it impossible to purchase one for the winter. When I finally was able to purchase one, I didn't even sign anything, they just wrote my name down. Nothing about what car I had, license plates, etc. They also do nothing to enforce other people parking in your carport. They are rude and basically stupid. Further they asked me to stay this year but upped my rent $100! Ha! There has been some crime this year. There have been a slew of car break ins and due to our proximity to a shady $39/night motel there are always some shady characters walking in the neighborhood nearby. Its a great apartment, there are 3 really nice pools, and its in a decent location but management is awful and its debatable whether they are worth the hassle.
