Apartment Review for Oakhill Manor Apartments - Kansas City, MO

I stayed here for a full year from July 04 to Aug 05, I didn't have any problems except for once my car was broken into and my stereo stolen. I don't fault the complex however because it could happen anywhere. My big problem came when I recieved a letter at the beginning of July stating that I had two weeks to sign a lease renewal. Ordinarily this wouldn't have been a problem but I planned to move at the end of my 12 months and I knew that the lease according to my copy didnt end until Aug. now upon contacting the manager of the complex about this situation she showed me a copy of the lease which WAS NOT the copy I signed. What they did was detach the last page and attached it to a new lease. When showing the manager my copy, by the way that had initials on each page unlike the copy she had, she claimed that she didn't know where i got my lease from and that they couldn't honor the copy that i obtained from them the date i signed the lease. It wasn't until i threatened to have my attorney contact her that she agreed to let me stay until Aug as specified on the original lease agreement, without signing a new lease. Other then that one issue my stay here was good. I do advise to initial each page as i did and keep up with the lease in case of any problems not just with this complex but with anyone your under a contractual agreement with. You never know.
